My Grandma

My grandma is one of the best women I know. She is so genuine, caring and thoughtful. We talk almost daily through text or face time. Our close relationship means so much to me.

My pa-pa (grandpa) built my classroom a bookshelf almost 8 years ago. It’s one of those great ones that displays the book covers! He hand painted the entire thing, drove it from Florida and delivered it to my classroom.

I started a tradition in my classroom that special books we read together or holiday themed books go on the “Pa-Pa” shelf. My grandma loves that his memory still lives now that he has passed.

My grandma loves to buy books for my classroom, but this year she went above and beyond! This year she bought 8 new Mo Willems titles for my firsties to read! We face timed her to say our thank you’s and the kids shrieked with excitement when I opened the package. It truly made her day to see the smiles on the kiddos faces as they saw all the new titles they could have in their own hands. I love that my classroom has touches of my pa-pa and grandma from the gorgeous bookshelf he built and the wonderful new books my grandma continues to share with us.I am so grateful for my beautiful grandma and that she continues to inspire the littlest minds.

  1. This is a beautiful post! I remember my first year at Edgewood coming to your room to pick up kids and you were showing them books your mom had bought for your class. I remember how excited they were and thinking of how sweet that was to share with your class.
